Learning Objective 1

The Passive House Criteria - define the Passive House Certification Criteria including the Space Heating Demand, Heating Load, Cooling Demand and Load, Building Airtightness, Frequency of Overheating and Primary Energy requirements.

Learning Objective 2

Compact Design - appreciate the importance of form complexity on the final energy consumption of the building. Understand the influence of orientation on the building energy balance and how optimal orientation can improve energy efficiency.

Learning Objective 3

Building Enclosure - state the requirements for building envelope design to the Passive House standard including R-Values of the opaque elements, U-values of the non-opaque elements, airtightness performance requirements and how to design a thermal-bridge-free enclosure

Learning Objective 4

Mechanical Services - appreciate the requirements for the building service design in a Passive House building including the ventilation system, heating, cooling and dehumidification appliances. Also, understand the requirements for DHW design in a Passive House
