Step-by-Step EnerPHit Retrofit: coordinated design and build

Step-by-Step EnerPHit Retrofit: coordinated design and build
enerphit guideA step-by-step retrofit approach has been developed in the EU funded EuroPHit project where a once-off complete retrofit to the EnerPHit standard is not financially feasible. The Wicklow house is Ireland's first step-by-step EnerPHit project, involving a substantial first step that results in significant improvement in environmental performance, air quality and comfort.

British Columbia Climate Leadership Plan Points to Passive House

British Columbia Climate Leadership Plan Points to Passive House
bc climate planThe BC Climate Leadership Plan points to Passive House (see Page 36) as an exemplar building standard and encourages Passive House education and training. According to Rob Bernhardt, President of Passive House Canada, "BC has positioned itself to become the world leader in building energy efficiency policies, with a flagship, globally recognized city in Vancouver as a beacon. No other jurisdiction in the world has developed such a clear, comprehensive strategy to transform buildings". Passive House Academy is proud to partner with Passive House Canada to develop their training materials.

Guidelines

Non Domestic Passive House Design Guidelines
Non Domestic Passive House Design Guidelines thumbThis document presents guidance for what is loosely referred to hereafter as ‘non-domestic’ Passive House projects, including buildings such as schools and offices as well as multi-residential apartment projects. The term Passive House is perhaps, at face value, somewhat misleading insofar as it simplies that this standard of construction pertains only to ‘houses’ (or single family dwellings).

Passive House Design Guidelines for New Build Residential
Passive House Design Guidelines for New Build Residential thumbSustainable Energy Ireland is Ireland’s national energy authority, set up to support Irish government energy policy objectives. Following the introduction of new legislation, most notably the European Community Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings and the recent announcement of the intent to regulate and require the use of renewable energy systems in new buildings, we are seeing the emergence of extraordinary standards of energy performance for building construction in Ireland, as well as a rapid increase in the uptake of renewable energy technologies for building services.

Passive House Retrofit Guidelines

For several reasons, attention must focus now on our existing buildings. The recent extension of the Building Energy Rating to all buildings being sold or rented coupled with the introduction of a national residential energy efficiency programme, and the knowledge that cost-effective opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are most readily found in buildings are all combining to provide an extraordinary impetus to home energy saving.

Net Zero Energy Buildings: Passive House and Renewables
NAPHN Net Zero Passive House Flipbook thumb
This NAPHN book is intended to inform and inspire. Net Zero is a catch phrase with great emotional power, but too often prioritizes power production over demand reduction and effectively puts the cart before the horse, providing less than satisfactory results. This book demonstrates a better way.
